This is a speech I wrote for State Representative Bruce Ayers for the annual Discover Quincy meeting. Discover Quincy is a non-profit organization in Quincy. I wrote this speech on tourism, a relevant topic to the meeting.

The goal of the speech was to help Bruce have a better understanding of the tourism industry and Discover Quincy's goal. The speech had enabled Bruce to effectively communicate his views on tourism to a wider audience and be able to use this speech for future reference.

The audience in mind for this speech was a bit more challenging. Had I not known how to write for a specific audience, I do not think I could have wrote this speech. I also had to focus on the rhetorical situation of this speech. The speech needed to be specific in regards to the Discover Quincy meeting and the marketers who would be attending this event. I also needed to make sure the speech was broad enough to be used outside of this meeting. I learned how to keep this specific rhetorical situation in mind while still keeping a broader focus.

The writing process for this speech was much different than my usual album reviews. I had a bulleted list of items that were important or were going to be discussed during the meeting. Then, I had to organize those points in a manner that would flow nicely. Through organization, I was able to develop a well thought out speech for Bruce Ayers that could effectively communicate his views on tourism as well as the purpose of the Discover Quincy meeting.
